Registered Cardiac Sonographer will perform outpatient transthoracic echocardiograms examinations to assess heart function. Will assisting physician in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions. This role requires expertise in ultrasound imaging, patient care, and collaboration with healthcare teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Conducts 2D, Doppler, and color flow echocardiograms to evaluate cardiac function.
- Perform stress echocardiography and contrast-enhanced studies as needed.
- Explain procedures to patients, ensuring comfort and cooperation
- Reviews patient orders and previous diagnostic studies and records patient information on their own history sheets for the cardiologists
- Recognize normal and abnormal echocardiographic findings and report concerns to the physicians.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal imagine quality.
- Records echocardiographic images using the proper identification information. May discuss test results with the physician or request that the physician personally view the echocardiographic image.
- Sends echocardiographic images to cardiologists per Information Technology (IT).
- Trouble shoots technical issues and coordinate equipment services.
- Maintain accurate patient records and adhere to confidentiality standards.
- Work closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control protocols.
- Prepares monthly Outpatient Specialty Clinic and Echocardiography statistic reports for Administration and Business Office.
- Receptionist duties to include answering the clinic calls, taking messages, and appropriately routing the calls and messages. Will be responsible for the faxing of any paperwork and precertification's requested by the physician.
- Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition of rooms, equipment, and personnel.
- Maintains outpatient clinic supplies, restocking as needed.
- Reports equipment failure directly to director.
- Keeps current regarding developments in trends and techniques of Cardiac Sonography by reading technical journals and keeping up with the continuing education in the field of Cardiac Sonography.
- Adheres to prescribed standards of practice for Cardiac Sonography.

Education and/or Experience:
- Associate Degree in cardiac sonography, echocardiography, or a related health science field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years clinical cardiac sonography experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Registered by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (SDMS) Certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required upon hire.
