Penn Manor School District – School Social Worker Posting: 7/7/26 - 7/24/26 Location: Penn Manor School District Status: 205 Days REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendents & Director of Student Support Services Certification Required: Educational Specialist I School Social Worker PK-12 OR Educational Specialist I Home and School Visitor PK-12 Special Education Required: No Summary Provide support/services to schools and families that will enhance the students’ educational experience. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Ensure students are living within the jurisdiction of the district by making home visits. Consult and collaborate with educational agency personnel, parents, and community resources in areas that impact student learning (e.g., mental health, behavior management, school safety, diversity, crisis management, bullying prevention, child abuse, and neglect). Consult with stakeholders to facilitate understanding of factors in a student's home, educational agency, and community that affect their educational experience. Assist students and their families in gaining access to formal and informal community resources. Provide direct interventions to students, including individual and group therapy, counseling, and educational and informational programs. Provide crisis and emergency assistance including support to students in need and participation in threat assessment and related initiatives. Assist in training school personnel to be able to identify the signs and impact of trauma in students and families and coordinate or support initiatives to develop institutional culture and climate. Assist in the planning of therapeutic, remedial, and behavioral modification activities provided by the educational agency. Use student, family, school, and community assessment to develop appropriate interventions to improve student learning. Conduct formal and informal assessments of student functioning, developmental history, family and community structure, interpersonal relationships, adaptive behavior, and cultural factors that may influence learning. Communicate concerns with students and parents regarding attendance. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendents and Director of Student Services. Qualifications Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited school of social work. Valid Pennsylvania Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential. Valid Pennsylvania School Social Worker Educational Specialist certificate. Physical Requirements and Sensory Abilities Appropriate keyboarding skills Proficiencies with technological communication tools including, but not limited to word processing, internet access and utilization and the full and effective use of the district's email software Ability to communicate well at all organizational levels Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks and decision making Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to form appropriate relations and to work as a team member Repetitive movement of fingers and hands for keyboarding visual acuity to read significant amounts of correspondence, reports and computer screen data Frequent walking and standing for extended periods of time Auditory acuity for telephone and oral communication A temperament appropriate for work as a team member Manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment Some carrying and lifting - 15 to 30 pounds Ability to speak clearly and distinctly Strong assessment and evaluation skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of child development, learning theories, and special education law. Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
