Special Education Teacher | Newport, New Hampshire

Job Description

Job Description

Special Education professionals interested in a flexible contract opportunity are invited to make a meaningful impact supporting students outside of regular school hours. This position offers services for students whose IEPs require specially-designed instruction, delivered in-person or remotely, with a schedule tailored to your availability—afternoons, evenings, or weekends. Services are coordinated based on agreements with students' parents and guardians, creating the chance for a highly individualized caseload.

You’ll collaborate directly with stakeholders to provide targeted instructional support, leveraging your expertise to help every learner achieve their fullest potential. Flexible arrangements allow you to design a work schedule that fits your life, whether you’re seeking part-time hours around another commitment or simply prefer working after standard school days.

Desired Qualifications:

• Current New Hampshire DOE Educator License with General Special Education endorsement
• At least one year of experience in a school environment working as a Special Education Teacher
• Successful completion of state-required exams (such as the Pearson Special Education and Foundations of Reading)
• Ability to effectively adjust teaching strategies for varying learning needs and environments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable liaising with families and school staff
• Preference for in-person availability, though remote candidates will be considered

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specially-designed instruction and related services per student IEPs outside regular school hours
• Collaborate with families to coordinate schedules and maximize student participation
• Document progress and maintain compliance with all program guidelines
• Foster a supportive, engaging environment that respects individual abilities and backgrounds

Experience flexibility, the potential for remote work, and the satisfaction of supporting learners' growth. Those available for afternoon, evening, or weekend slots, especially in-person, are encouraged to apply.
