Electrical Hardware Technician II

This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. This role is part of Blue Engines Avionics and Control Products Team, specifically the electrical hardware design team. This position supports Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows for the future. Special Mentions: This position is scheduled for 40 hours with additional weekdays/overtime as necessary. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assembling prototype and flight-grade avionics assemblies Soldering printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and other surface mount technology (SMT) level printed circuit board work down to 0201 sized components. Typically repairs and rework. Develop lab circuits to aid the development and debug of electronic designs. Building wire harness/cable assemblies for lab use Provide feedback on new assemblies, identifying improvements to existing designs and improving or updating outdated designs. Process non-conformances and related documentation Testing and qualifying avionics Minimum Qualifications: Experience with ESD prevention and controls Understanding of basic electronics theory - voltage, resistance, current Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and written assembly procedures. 2+ years of experience in assembly of avionics, automotive electronics, electronic medical devices, or other similar high precision assemblies. Procent in the use of basic electronic lab test equipment, such as power supplies and handheld multimeters Ability to use standard mechanical tools, precision measuring devices and fabrication shop equipment. Ability to lift 25 lbs. Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft oce suite (Excel, Word, etc.) Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention-to-detail, and desire for continuous improvement Preferred Qualifications: Current or expired certifications in PCBA inspection (IPC-A-610), harness assembly (IPC/WHMA-A-620), soldering (J-STD-001), PCBA rework (IPC-7711/7721) Familiarity with basic PCB layout tools is a plus. Experience with potting Experience working in a R&D within space, aviation, automotive or medical fields.
