Key facts Location: Hutchinson, Kansas Engagement: Full-time What you'll do Manage and maintain the college's server infrastructure, including installation, configuration, and upgrades of operating systems and applications. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation of all IT services. Implement and manage security protocols to protect sensitive data and maintain compliance with regulations. Collaborate with faculty and staff to understand their technology needs and provide solutions that enhance their productivity. Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent operations. Provide technical support and training to users on various systems and applications, fostering a user-friendly environment. Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring that data integrity and availability are maintained. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that can improve system performance and user experience. Assist in the management of network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls, to ensure seamless connectivity. Work closely with vendors and service providers to resolve issues and implement new solutions as needed. Conduct regular system audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the college's IT services. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration or a similar role. Proficiency in managing Windows and Linux server environments. Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs. Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V. Familiarity with cloud services and solutions, particularly AWS or Azure. Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users. Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions, as well as security best practices. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Nice to have Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate. Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell or Bash for automation tasks. Familiarity with database management systems, particularly SQL Server or MySQL. Previous experience in an educational institution or similar environment. Understanding of ITIL framework and best practices for IT service management.
