PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $26.35-$32.12 hourly. The full Pay Range is $21.65-$38.03 hourly. hourly.

IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Collections Specialist I, you’ll play an important role in helping members navigate financial challenges while protecting the financial well-being of BECU. Your ability to build trust, listen with empathy, and identify solutions will help members stay on track and achieve positive outcomes. In this role, you’ll support collection and recovery efforts across a variety of account types, including credit cards, home equity loans, auto loans, consumer loans, returned deposits, and charge-offs. Through meaningful member interactions, attention to detail, and sound judgment, you’ll help minimize losses, maintain accurate account information, and contribute to an exceptional member experience. You'll also serve as a key resource by resolving routine collection inquiries and collaborating with teammates when more complex situations arise.

Note: For WA state, one should be able to travel to onsite meetings at offices in Tukwila, WA or Spokane, WA or off-site throughout the year on a periodic basis.

Schedule: This role requires working PST hours and could be a closing shift 10 AM - 7 PM or 9AM - 6PM Monday through Friday with rotating Saturday 9 AM - 1 PM shift approximately every 8 weeks.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Drive Compliance & Accountability: Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU Competencies, compliance requirements, regulatory guidelines, and Information Protection standards while delivering a high-quality member experience.
• Support Recovery Goals: Complete the required number of outbound and inbound dialer activities to help achieve delinquency and recovery objectives while maintaining professionalism and member focus.
• Assess Member Needs: Analyze member accounts and identify appropriate next steps, referring accounts for additional review or action when necessary to help reduce delinquency and financial loss.
• Research & Locate Information: Utilize available tools and resources to locate updated contact information for members when valid phone numbers or addresses are unavailable.
• Maintain Accurate Records: Update and report address changes and phone numbers to ensure member records remain current, accurate, and complete.
• Document Meaningful Interactions: Accurately record member conversations, commitments, and payment arrangements within the appropriate system of record to support effective account management.
• Contribute Beyond Your Core Responsibilities: Take on additional duties and special assignments as needed, supporting team success and evolving business priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate Degree or equivalent related experience required.
• Minimum one year of experience in collections, financial institution contact center, or retail banking required.
• Intermediate proficiency using MS Office and database software required.
• Work additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects as needed.
