Seasonal Forest Technician: GIS & Forest Health

You will serve the public, make a difference, and open the doorway to pursue professional growth. What You Will Do Support district staff by performing technical forestry work in the management, protection, and conservation of forest resources within the Pinchot Forest District. Assist with timber sales, landscape examinations, and resource management activities. Use geographic information system (GIS) to collect various types of data. Assist the Forest Health Coordinator with treating trees for Hemlock Wooly Adelgid and Emerald Ash Borer, controlling invasive plant species, conducting forest health surveys, and recording tracking data. Work Schedule and Additional Information Seasonal, full‑time position with no healthcare benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2027, after which the employee will be placed on leave without pay and automatically returned to employment in March 2027. Work hours: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Telework is not permitted. Further communication regarding this position will be provided via email. Qualifications Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Associate’s degree in forest technology or completion of equivalent formal education in forestry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Condition of Employment Possession of a valid Pennsylvania non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent is required. Other Requirements Pennsylvania residency requirement is currently waived for this title. Must be able to perform essential job functions.
