About the Position

RN – Emergency Department – Night Shift – Rapid Response Crisis

We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to provide emergency nursing care in an Emergency Department in Calais, Maine. The ideal candidate will be capable of delivering safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care while responding promptly to urgent and emergency situations.

The RN will assess patient conditions, implement appropriate nursing interventions, coordinate care with the healthcare team, and ensure compliance with established clinical standards and Maine State regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patients' conditions and identify immediate healthcare needs.

• Develop and coordinate patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.

• Provide appropriate emergency nursing interventions based on patient assessments.

• Monitor patient responses to treatments and communicate changes in condition promptly.

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

• Maintain accurate patient documentation and protect patient confidentiality.

• Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations.

• Follow established clinical procedures, safety protocols, and professional nursing standards.

• Support the organization's mission, vision, and values while delivering quality patient care.

Requirements

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

• Active Maine RN license or authorization to practice while licensure by endorsement is pending.

• Current BLS/BCLS certification.

• ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire.

• Two years of nursing experience preferred.

• Strong patient assessment and emergency response skills.

• Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

• Proficiency in computer use and clinical documentation.

• Ability to work independently and respond effectively in fast-paced emergency situations.

Schedule & Assignment Details

• Contract Duration: 13 weeks.

• Shift: Nights, three 12-hour shifts; shift times may vary.

• Positions Available: 1.

• Setting: Emergency Department (ER).

• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week, with no guarantee of specific daily hours.

• Holiday Coverage: Required.

• Overtime: Applicable after 40 hours per week, according to assignment terms.

• Position Urgency: Rapid Response Crisis.
