Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have: - Experience in an ICU stepdown or PCU unit - Experience with arterial and CVP pressure lines - Experience titrating pressors, including Precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, and levophed - Experience with trach and stable vented patients Description: The position is for a stepdown nurse in a busy unit. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:3 for closer monitoring. Training in telemetry is required. The unit typically has 14 beds in a 7-room setting. Common patient diagnoses include TBI/trauma, major surgery, CEA, and sepsis. Nurses will be involved in titrating drips. There is one aid most of the time for all beds. Shifts are 12 hours long, starting at 6:45 PM. Self-scheduling is allowed for most staff. Weekend requirements include four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule. Holiday work is included in the permanent staff rotation. There is no call or standby requirement for this position. Floating may occur to Tele or MedSurg areas. The dress code requires navy blue scrubs. The unit emphasizes patient experience and teamwork. Candidates should be self-motivated and team-oriented. The environment is traveler-friendly and promotes effective teamwork. The cancellation policy allows for up to four shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done through Cerner.
