We are currently hiring a Nutritionist / Performance Dietitian in Artesia, NM.


SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:


• Full-time, on-site (Artesia, NM)


• Schedule aligned with academy training operations (may include early mornings,


evenings, and occasional weekends)

REQUIREMENTS :


• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required


• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field


• Minimum 3 years' experience in tactical, military, law enforcement, or high-risk


occupational training environments


• Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based performance nutrition, injury prevention, and


performance optimization


• Experience with body composition and metabolic testing (e.g., InBody or similar)


• Strong communication and instructional skills, with the ability to:


o Present to large and small groups


o Translate complex nutrition concepts into practical guidance


• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams (e.g.,


PT staff, exercise physiologists, medical providers, leadership)


• Must comply with all policies and directives


• Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearances or background checks


• Must be willing and able to work on-site full-time in Artesia, NM

TYPE OF WORK:


The Nutritionist / Performance Dietitian serves as a subject matter expert in performance


nutrition, supporting academy leadership, PT departments, instructors, and trainees in a


high-tempo training environment.


Nutrition Program Delivery


• Follow established nutrition lesson plans and educational modules, and/or develop new


content in response to identified gaps or academy needs


• Lead group sessions and briefings, including:

• Nutrition introduction/orientation for new trainees
• Performance nutrition and chow hall eating strategies
• Supplement safety education

• Provide daily guidance on:

• Body composition optimization and healthy weight management
• Nutrition to support injury recovery and return-to-duty
• Practical, budget-conscious eating strategies for trainees

• Deliver Early Recognition Program (ERP) briefings and support nutrition education for


injury recovery and high-risk trainees


Assessment and Counseling


• Conduct routine observations and assessments of nutrition practices within the academy


(e.g., dining facility choices, fueling strategies around training)


• Utilize InBody or similar tools for body composition and metabolic testing; interpret


results and provide individualized, evidence-based recommendations


• Offer guidance and recommendations related to:

• High cholesterol and blood pressure
• Blood sugar management (e.g., pre-diabetes, diabetes)
• Disordered eating concerns
• Gastrointestinal issues influencing performance or health

• Assist in reviewing lab work in conjunction with consultations and provide actionable


nutrition interventions


Dietary Supplement Review


• Lead efforts to develop and communicate safe supplement use recommendations


consistent with approved standards


• Assist in reviewing and responding to agent-requested supplement inquiries in


coordination with Government program officials


Education, Training, and Resource Development


• Provide expert guidance and in-service training to PT instructors and staff on


nutrition-related topics (hydration, fueling for heat/cold, recovery, etc.)


• Assist in developing nutrition education modules for instructor qualification courses in


coordination with staff


• Create and maintain nutrition education resources (handouts, presentations, digital


content) for academy programs


• Coordinate with the Exercise Physiologist and appropriate staff to develop integrated


performance and recovery plans


Data Collection and Analysis


• Collect and analyze nutrition-related and performance data to support:

• Evidence-based curriculum adjustments
• Leadership decision-making on training and wellness initiatives

• Track and report trends in:

• Nutrition-related health outcomes
• Performance indicators and injury risk patterns
