Empower students to discover their full potential with your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This full-time, full school year contract position is an opportunity to make a profound difference by providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments.
Your role will center on delivering adaptive educational strategies tailored to each student’s unique needs. Collaboration with students, families, and school staff will be key, ensuring an inclusive, equitable educational environment. You’ll become an invaluable resource, helping students navigate their academic journey and fostering independence, confidence, and life skills.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid, active state license as a Visually Impaired Teacher (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience working with visually impaired children or in special education settings
- Expertise in creating and modifying Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Familiarity with assistive technology for the visually impaired
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Flexibility to adapt to a variety of classroom situations and student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ functional vision and develop individualized instructional plans
- Deliver adaptive lessons using Braille, tactile materials, and technology
- Provide direct instruction in academic and daily living skills
- Coordinate with general education teachers and paraprofessionals
- Document progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with educational standards
- Advocate for student needs within the school and district
