About the Position

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | Every other weekend required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide critical care nursing for a complex patient population including trauma (head, chest, abdominal, orthopedic), stroke, burns, and general medical/surgical ICU patients at a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2–3
• Manage and titrate all common ICU drips, including vasoactive and sedation medications
• Perform ventilator management and troubleshoot respiratory equipment in collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
• Monitor and manage patients with arterial lines, central lines, EVDs, ICP monitoring, and CRRT
• Independently read and interpret EKG rhythms and assess for need for clinical intervention using Philips central monitoring systems
• Float throughout the facility as needed (excluding ER and OB); when floated to MedSurg, capped at a 1:4 patient ratio

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Demonstrated comfort with ventilator management and medication titration
• Experience with arterial lines and central lines
• Must be able to pass a multi-panel drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PALS certification preferred
• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)
• Experience with EVD and ICP monitoring
• Background in complex trauma, burn care, or neurovascular procedures (IV tPA, thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling)
