Senior Accountant - Real Estate Transactions - 3+ years of Big 4 experience required

Description The Transactions team at Welltower is a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly collaborative accounting group focused on a wide range of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings, and other strategic investments. This role offers exposure to complex, high-impact transactions in a non-traditional accounting environment. This position is primarily responsible for preparing transaction-related journal entries, drafting transaction accounting memos, and coordinating transaction integration with internal teams and third-party operators. The role partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment, timely execution, and effective communication throughout the transaction lifecycle. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and eager to grow within a challenging and fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities Review executed legal agreements for accounting implications Assist with technical accounting research and document conclusions within accounting memorandums Prepare journal entries for acquisitions, disposition, and other investment activity Assist in creation of new investment structures in Welltower’s financial reporting systems Develop and maintain accounting estimation models Monitor financial results of various investment structures Collaborate with other departments (Tax, Investments, Finance) on appropriate accounting treatment for various investment structures Collaborate with other accounting teams (such as Leases, Loans, Property accounting, and Partnerships) on the recording of transactions Assist in preparation of quarterly external reporting disclosures Travel Minimal to no travel is expected for this position. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required Work experience of at least three years (Big 4 Accounting Firm preferred) Knowledge of accounting theory, including GAAP and IFRS, is strongly desired Familiarity with real estate and international experience is a plus Professional certification of CPA or equivalent is strongly desired Competencies Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel in addition to having the ability to learn new software Strong team player with a focus towards customer service Ability to self-motivate and work in a dynamic environment Ability to work independently and meet deadlines Ability to identify and implement process improvement Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner A positive and professional attitude Ability to coach and mentor others Accountability for work performed and work he/she prepared Employment Eligibility Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and verification of employment, education, and other credentials relevant to the position.
