Job Description & Requirements Specialty: OR - Operating Room Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/21/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 40 hours per week Shift: 8 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Summary Operating Room (OR) Nurse in a healthcare facility located in the area. This role involves providing comprehensive perioperative patient care, including assessment, advocacy, and coordination of services before, during, and after surgical procedures. The position requires utilizing a broad range of nursing skills to support patient safety and comfort throughout their surgical experience. Job Details Position Description: Assesses and responds to the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patient through personal observation and interaction. Acts as a patient advocate. Utilizes professional nursing skills and judgment; takes action to implement nursing care and treat the problems identified. Communicates patient assessments to the appropriate individuals ensuring the coordination of patient care. Demonstrates knowledge of diagnostic measures such as labs, radiology, EKG, and skills in IV therapy. Transcribes and implements physicians' orders accurately and promptly while admitting patients efficiently. Documents in patient clinical records via computer with accuracy and in a timely manner, checks the required information on the patient record to comply with correct surgical procedures, and completes final review of patient records to ensure all paperwork and activities such as site marking are complete and that anesthesiologist has spoken to the patient and family. Provides appropriate and knowledgeable instruction/education to the patients and their families. Utilizes supplies, equipment, and resources to contain costs without compromising patient care. Assists with housekeeping duties such as cleaning and making beds as needed for patients. When assigned to Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), assesses and provides appropriate nursing care, recognizes patient needs, maintains airway, monitors vital signs, and utilizes correct medications to control pain, consulting with surgeon and anesthesiologist when necessary. Uses knowledge and critical thinking to evaluate patient's status and ensure safe transfer to Phase 2. Maintains communication when functioning as a float nurse, assists staff as needed, relieves staff for breaks, and utilizes staff in a cost-effective manner. Works in the pain management and eye laser procedure rooms as assigned. Familiar with anesthesia supplies, assists with nerve blocks, and knows the location of crash carts, medication carts, and emergency medications. Participates in committee meetings, offers suggestions for improvements, and seeks guidance when needed. Other duties as assigned.
