Job Details Job ID: 5731066 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 21, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Position Summary The High School Math II Teacher is responsible for providing rigorous, standards‑based mathematics instruction aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. The teacher will support student achievement in mathematical reasoning, problem‑solving, algebraic concepts, geometry, statistics, and critical thinking while preparing students for college, career, and postsecondary success. The teacher will create an engaging learning environment that encourages student collaboration, analytical thinking, and academic growth through differentiated instruction and effective instructional practices. Instructional Responsibilities Teach Math II courses aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Deliver instruction in mathematical concepts including: Quadratic functions Polynomial expressions Geometry and geometric proof Transformations Probability and statistics Systems of equations Functions and modeling Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote conceptual understanding and mathematical application. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and varying academic abilities. Incorporate instructional technology, calculators, digital platforms, and interactive learning tools into instruction. Prepare students for state and district assessments. Classroom Environment & Student Support Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and academically focused classroom environment. Foster student confidence, perseverance, and problem‑solving skills in mathematics. Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback on assignments, assessments, and classroom performance. Communicate effectively with students, parents, guardians, counselors, and administrators regarding academic progress and student needs. Provide academic interventions and enrichment opportunities as appropriate. Assessment & Data Analysis Develop and administer formative and summative assessments aligned with curriculum standards. Analyze assessment and student performance data to inform instructional decisions. Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student progress. Participate in data‑driven instructional planning and school improvement initiatives. Professional Responsibilities Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), department meetings, and school improvement activities. Attend required professional development related to mathematics instruction and curriculum implementation. Collaborate with colleagues to support student achievement and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Maintain compliance with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) requirements and local district policies. Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field. Valid North Carolina teaching license in Mathematics (9–12) or eligibility for licensure. Strong knowledge of secondary mathematics content and instructional practices. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching high school mathematics courses. Experience using instructional technology and digital math platforms. Knowledge of differentiated instruction and data‑driven teaching practices. Experience supporting students with varying academic skill levels. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to explain complex mathematical concepts clearly and effectively. Ability to foster analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Strong organizational and instructional planning abilities. Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Commitment to equitable instruction and high expectations for all students. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise classroom instruction for extended periods. Ability to operate computers, calculators, projectors, and other instructional technology equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats. Terms of Employment Ten‑month position in accordance with North Carolina teacher salary schedule and local board policies. Additional duties may include tutoring, intervention support, curriculum development, or extracurricular sponsorship opportunities.
