Irrigation Technician

Installs, maintains, and repairs irrigation systems. Duties include troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing sprinkler heads, valves, and other system components. Manages irrigation schedules, maintains inventory, and ensures the efficient operation of water systems. Responsibilities and duties include inspecting and loading equipment for the day's work, driving to the client's location, testing the soil and vegetation to determine irrigation needs, mapping out areas for irrigation installation, digging trenches and installing pipes and lines, installing pumps and electrical timers, testing the irrigation system with the aid of computer software, conducting routine maintenance checks, troubleshooting and replacing faulty parts, and completing progress reports and associated paperwork.

Knowledge and skills include the ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints, knowledge of irrigation and electrical timer systems, knowledge of soil, vegetation, and climate, knowledge of construction safety practices, ability to kneel down, regularly lift, push, carry 30lbs, and ability to work outside in all weather conditions. Tools required include all hand tools required to do the job. Authority to observe and report any practices that are not in compliance with corporation safety or harassment policies.
