Job Title: Senior Storage & Data Protection Engineer – (NetApp / ONTAP)

Location: Wichita, KS - 67260 ( ONSITE )

Duration: 6-month contract (potential to extend or hire)

Overview:

Seeking a hands-on senior engineer to own and modernize enterprise storage and data protection in a secure, regulated research environment. This role leads NetApp infrastructure strategy, complex migrations, disaster recovery design, and backup/virtualization optimization. Requires strong technical execution, documentation discipline, and experience in CMMC-aligned environments.

Important Notes:

This role will serve as the technical owner of enterprise NetApp storage infrastructure, leading modernization efforts, executing complex data migrations, implementing disaster recovery replication strategies, and optimizing backup and virtualization ecosystems.

This is a CMMC-aligned environment, so the engineer needs to clearly explain decisions, document architectures, and produce audit-ready materials. If they’re the type who “just fixes things” but doesn’t document, they’ll struggle here.

Top Must Haves:

• Deep NetApp ownership + migration expertise (the centerpiece). This role lives and dies on NetApp. Not just “admin experience,” but true ownership

• Data protection & disaster recovery architecture (Veeam)

• Experience in regulated / CMMC-aligned environments. Plenty of engineers have NetApp + VMware, but fewer understand how to operate in secure, compliance-heavy environments
