Staff Accountant

Position Summary The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, and ensuring financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner. This role works closely with finance and operational teams to support business objectives and maintain compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities General Accounting Prepare and post journal entries. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. Perform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies. Financial Reporting Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules. Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities. Create ad hoc financial reports and analyses for management. Support external audits and prepare audit schedules. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Assist with invoice processing and payment activities. Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding payments. Reconcile AP and AR subledgers to the general ledger. Compliance & Controls Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. Maintain organized financial records and documentation. Support tax filings, regulatory reporting, and internal control initiatives. Special Projects Participate in process improvement initiatives. Assist with system implementations and other finance-related projects as needed. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Experience 1-3 years of accounting experience preferred. Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close. Public accounting internship or experience is a plus. Technical Skills Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP. Experience with ERP or accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Sage preferred. Knowledge of GAAP.
