General Laborer

The General Laborer supports manufacturing operations by performing a wide range of production, assembly, material handling, and housekeeping tasks. This role helps ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established quality standards while contributing to a clean, organized, and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate basic manufacturing equipment and tools as directed to support daily production activities.
• Assemble, package, label, and inspect products according to specifications and quality requirements.
• Load and unload materials, parts, and finished goods to keep production flowing smoothly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including performing general housekeeping tasks.
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform basic quality checks and promptly report defects or production issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Assist with inventory movement and material staging to support efficient manufacturing operations.
• Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to meet or exceed production goals.
• Complete required production and inventory documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and willingly perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Ability to operate basic manufacturing equipment and tools safely and correctly.
• Capability to perform assembly, packaging, labeling, and product inspection tasks with attention to detail.
• Forklift operation experience or ability to learn forklift operation as needed for material handling.
• Basic computer operation skills to support tasks such as data entry and documentation.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including safety policies and production procedures.
• Strong attitude and willingness to perform multiple roles and adapt to changing production needs.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• General manufacturing knowledge, including familiarity with production, material handling, or assembly processes.
• Experience with Excel data entry for recording production or inventory information.
• Positive culture fit, including reliability, cooperation, and respect for coworkers and supervisors.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility and involves hands-on work with basic production equipment, tools, and material handling tasks, including forklift operation where required. The position follows a first-shift schedule: Monday through Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with an expectation that team members maintain their work areas and follow all safety procedures throughout their shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Machesney Park, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
