Technician I, QC Sample Management (Night Shift)

Job Overview The QC Sample Management Technician is responsible for the movement and control of QC samples and materials, including in‑process, finished drug product, characterization, retain, and stability samples processed through the QC laboratories. The role includes sample collection and distribution, inventory control, chain of custody, sample tracking, and sample delivery. This position works a 12‑hour rotating shift (6 PM–6 AM) with shifts scheduled over a 2‑week period, including weekends, holidays, and adverse weather conditions. Responsibilities Handle test samples throughout the sample lifecycle: receipt, storage, distribution, transfer, and disposal. Facilitate cold chain transfers of samples. Ensure proper labeling, tracking, and chain of custody records in accordance with regulatory requirements. Maintain inventory and distribution of QC samples to functional groups. Record performance metrics for the sample management group. Support identification and implementation of process efficiencies. Communicate task completion, roadblocks, and needs to management. Working Conditions Work around biohazardous materials and potentially fluctuating or extreme temperatures. Exposure to hazardous materials is a core aspect of this role. Qualifications Education: Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or related science; or high school diploma/GED with 2+ years of relevant regulated environment experience. Experience: Cold chain sample storage and transfer in a GMP regulated environment; knowledge of basic electronic systems (email, MS Office); experience with LIMS/ELN computer applications preferred. Physical ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 lbs. Knowledge of regulatory standards applicable to GMP laboratories. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to work in a high‑paced team environment and meet deadlines. Effective communication skills with peers and management. Compensation Devens, MA – $27.35 to $33.14 per hour for full‑time employees, with potential incentive cash and stock opportunities based on eligibility.
