Our work depends on a TS/SCI cleared Linux Systems Engineer joining our team to support our Intelligence customer in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO.This position supports the Geospatial Services & Solutions business area to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions to the customer. As part of the GSS Team, the Linux Systems Engineer expertise is needed to support a sophisticated enterprise environment. They are an active participant in SAFe and Scrum development teams and meetings. The systems engineer will be responsible for supporting the customer's enterprise environment.Specific duties and responsibilities:Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Linux-based infrastructure in both on-prem and virtualized environmentsAdminister, maintain, and optimize Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), including AHV, Prism Central, and Prism Element, to support enterprise Linux workloadsCollaborate with infrastructure teams to provision, configure, and manage virtual machines, storage, networking, and cluster resources within Nutanix environmentsDevelop and maintain automation solutions using Ansible and scripting languages (e.g. Bash and Python)Standardize system configuration, patching, and deployment processes through Infrastructure-as-Code practicesAdminister and support Red Hat ecosystem tools, including Satellite and CapsuleIntegrate and manage authentication and authorization mechanisms (e.g. OAuth, SSO, identity providers)Support the development of dashboards and observability solutions using tools such as Grafana and ZabbixMonitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux systems and Nutanix infrastructure for performance, availability, and capacityTroubleshoot complex systems, virtualization, storage, networking, and integration issues across distributed environmentsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiencyDocument system architecture, processes, automation workflows, and infrastructure standardsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including automation maturity, platform modernization, and operational best practicesRequired skills:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience5+ years of experience administering and engineering Linux systems in enterprise environments, including experience supporting enterprise virtualization platforms such as NutanixSolid understanding of Linux system administration fundamentals (networking, storage, security, and OS internals)Strong expertise in configuration management and automation using AnsibleProficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and toolingExperience managing Red Hat-based environments (RHEL, Satellite, Capsule, or similar tools)Hands-on experience administering Nutanix HCI environments, including AHV, Prism Central, Prism Element, virtual machine lifecycle management, storage, networking, and cluster operationsExperience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Linux virtual machines in Nutanix environmentsUnderstanding of virtualization, hypervisor technologies, storage, and networking conceptsExperience troubleshooting complex infrastructure, virtualization, and performance issuesExperience implementing security best practices in Linux environmentsExperience with monitoring and alerting systemsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independentlyActive TS/SCI clearance required and eligibility to obtain a CI PolygraphDesired skills:Experience with Nutanix advanced capabilities such as Files, Objects, Flow, Calm, or Disaster RecoveryExperience with Nutanix automation using APIs, PowerShell, or Infrastructure-as-Code toolsExperience with load balancing devices such as HAProxy or F5Familiarity with authentication and authorization concepts (e.g. OAuth, LDAP, SSO)Experience with observability and dashboarding tools such as Grafana and ZabbixFamiliarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and integration with infrastructure automationExperience with VMware-to-Nutanix migration or hybrid virtualization environmentsStrong communication and documentation skillsAdditional information:All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $125-$135k.
