Job Purpose and Duties Job Purpose: General upkeep of the office building; ensure buildings are clean and in orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include notifying management of repairs and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalks. Vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, and minor repair work may be required. This position reports to the shift supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming. Gather and empty trash; service, clean, and supply restrooms. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors with appropriate cleaners. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment. Prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors. Operate vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work (e.g., vans, industrial equipment). Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with hand trucks. Notify management of major repairs or additions to building systems. Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas; spread snow-melting chemicals. Entry way access as needed. Requisition supplies and equipment for cleaning and maintenance. Apply insecticides and fumigants to prevent infestations. Other Duties As Required By Supervisor. Other Requirements Basic knowledge of repair techniques or job training alongside an experienced custodian. Advanced Skills Sanitation for Food Facility; Finishing/Refinishing Floors; Forklift Driver. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Education and/or Experience Required: High School Diploma or GED; at least 6 months experience. Language Skills: Must be able to communicate, read, write, and speak English; ability to read, analyze, and write; follow orders and respond to questions from management. Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally; ability to crouch or crawl under equipment; ascend/descend steps; operate phone systems; work in indoor environments; ability to work more than 8 hours when required. Vision: 20/20 corrected; ability to read and discern visual images. Communication: Clear over telephones. Health: Sound physical health as determined by a physician with no evidence of substance use. Work Environment Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
