Unit Overview

Unit: Critical Care ICU (11 beds)
Acuity: Lower acuity ICU
Patient Population: General ICU, Stroke, COVID, Medical, Surgical, Behavioral Health, Overdoses
Patient Ratio: 1:2-3 (days & nights, acuity-based)
Charting Systems: EPIC | Alaris | Pyxis

Minimum Requirements

Experience: 3+ years of ICU experience
First-Time Travelers: Considered upon review
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Key Skills

Cardiac rhythm interpretation
Ventilator management
Chest tubes & tracheostomy care
Line management
Proning experience
Bedside and nursing station telemetry monitoring (no tele tech available)

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, patient-centered critical care
Monitor and assess patients, responding quickly to changes in condition
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
Safely administer medications and treatments
Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC
Support patient and family education
Float to Cardiac and Stepdown units as needed

Unit Support

CNA support (1:7 ratio)
Charge nurse takes patient assignments
24/7 Respiratory Therapy & Hospitalist coverage
ICU Educator available
OT, PT, and Speech Therapy on weekdays
Phlebotomy available for peripheral draws

Scheduling & Orientation

Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
Orientation: One shift to learn unit flow
Time-off requests: Up to 7 days
On-call & holiday expectations: Based on unit needs

Additional Details

Floating: Required to Cardiac and Stepdown units
Scrub Color: Any professional color
Parking: Free in designated employee areas
PPE: Conventional PPE provided
