Unit Overview
- Unit: Critical Care ICU (11 beds)
- Acuity: Lower acuity ICU
- Patient Population: General ICU, Stroke, COVID, Medical, Surgical, Behavioral Health, Overdoses
- Patient Ratio: 1:2–3 (days & nights, acuity-based)
- Charting Systems: EPIC | Alaris | Pyxis
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: 3+ years of ICU experience
- First-Time Travelers: Considered upon review
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Key Skills
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Ventilator management
- Chest tubes & tracheostomy care
- Line management
- Proning experience
- Bedside and nursing station telemetry monitoring (no tele tech available)
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered critical care
- Monitor and assess patients, responding quickly to changes in condition
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
- Safely administer medications and treatments
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC
- Support patient and family education
- Float to Cardiac and Stepdown units as needed
Unit Support
- CNA support (1:7 ratio)
- Charge nurse takes patient assignments
- 24/7 Respiratory Therapy & Hospitalist coverage
- ICU Educator available
- OT, PT, and Speech Therapy on weekdays
- Phlebotomy available for peripheral draws
Scheduling & Orientation
- Weekend rotation: Every other weekend
- Orientation: One shift to learn unit flow
- Time-off requests: Up to 7 days
- On-call & holiday expectations: Based on unit needs

- Floating: Required to Cardiac and Stepdown units
- Scrub Color: Any professional color
- Parking: Free in designated employee areas
- PPE: Conventional PPE provided
