Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 12 months Shift: 10:00 AM - 10:30 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required - Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification may be preferred or required Must-Have: Previous emergency department, critical care, or acute-care nursing experience preferred Description: An Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) provides rapid, high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing acute illnesses, injuries, and life-threatening emergencies. The ER RN works in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing patient needs through triage, assessment, intervention, stabilization, and ongoing evaluation. Key responsibilities include performing rapid and comprehensive patient assessments and determining appropriate priorities of care. Triage patients according to the severity and urgency of their conditions. Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, and changes in patient condition. Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other treatments as ordered. Initiate and maintain intravenous access and obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing. Assist with emergency procedures, including CPR, trauma resuscitation, intubation, wound care, and other lifesaving interventions. Operate and monitor emergency equipment, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, and ventilators. Recognize signs of patient deterioration and promptly initiate appropriate interventions. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, respiratory therapists, laboratory staff, and other members of the healthcare team. Provide care for patients with medical, surgical, cardiac, neurological, psychiatric, pediatric, and trauma-related emergencies. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, discharge instructions, and follow-up care. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record. Follow infection-control procedures, medication-safety practices, and hospital policies. Provide compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining safety and confidentiality. Participate in emergency preparedness, quality-improvement initiatives, and continuing education. Essential skills include strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, rapid decision-making, effective communication, teamwork, time management, and the ability to remain organized and effective during high-pressure emergency situations.
