Industrial Electrician 1

Position Description We are looking for an Industrial Electrical Technician to install, operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair three‑phase and other industrial electrical equipment and systems at water and sewer pumping stations. Work involves travel to various locations, handling equipment up to 3000 horsepower and 4160 volts, and operating under extreme outdoor weather conditions. Physical exertion such as walking, climbing, bending, stooping and stretching is required. Typical Duties Repair, install, maintain, test/troubleshoot, and service electrical equipment at pumping stations. Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints, and equipment specifications. Use electrical testing equipment to determine proper course of action. Maintain logs of all repair and maintenance activities. Inspect completed jobs for quality assurance. Obtain permits for electrical repairs from Codes Administration. Prepare material lists for electrical installation and maintenance. Resolve and troubleshoot complex equipment problems. Ensure safety of self, other employees, and property. Maintain personal tools and equipment to established safety standards. Observe all safety procedures and make corrections as needed. Assist Industrial Mechanics in pulling equipment for repair and performing emergency equipment maintenance. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience maintaining and repairing industrial electrical equipment. OR Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of experience in the same field. Licenses Required Valid Driver’s License. Residency Requirement All employees of the Metropolitan Government must be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents within six (6) months of employment. Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Valid “Class A” license or “Class A” with “52 or 57” restriction. Experience with data entry/work order tracking systems. Experience with industrial controls, relay logic, or PLCs. Completion of an IBEW apprenticeship program or possession of an Electrical Journeyman’s card. Experience with three‑phase electricity.
