Immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer in Riverside, CA who possesses:

• 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience with a relevant bachelor's degree
• Experience with compression molding, injection molding, and/or plastics processing
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or training engineering team members
• Strong 3D CAD experience, with SolidWorks preferred
• Experience with engineering simulation or analysis software a plus

FULL DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the development, testing, improvement, and manufacturing of products and tooling. This role will lead engineering projects from concept through execution, perform design and engineering analysis, develop detailed technical documentation, support plastics processing and molded-product development, and mentor other engineering team members. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical engineering experience, knowledge of injection and/or compression molding, proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD software, and the ability to independently manage technical projects while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

 

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing effective project plans that include engineering milestones, tasks, tollgates, and clearly defined timelines
• Conducting engineering analysis including design reviews, finite element analysis, material selection, and tolerance studies
• Identifying process deficiencies and developing solutions to improve performance, quality, and efficiency
• Developing scopes of work for engineering projects, including project objectives and budget estimates
• Creating, maintaining, and reviewing engineering documentation including CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and test reports
• Estimating and tracking engineering hours required for internal projects
• Leading prototyping, testing, and evaluation of theoretical and completed designs
• Applying analytical thinking, critical evaluation, and sound engineering judgment throughout project execution
• Ensuring products can be manufactured reliably and perform consistently within specified operating conditions and environments
• Using research, mathematical modeling, computer-aided design, and other analytical tools to support engineering decisions
• Supporting product and tooling testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements
• Supporting compliance with standards including NFPA, EN, ASTM, and ISO 9001:2015 as applicable
• Supporting the maintenance and continuous improvement of existing product lines
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and training to engineering team members
• Partnering with manufacturing and other departments to resolve technical and production issues
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and Lean Manufacturing principles
• Staying current with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, materials, manufacturing methods, and emerging technologies
• Performing other duties as assigned

 

The selected candidate will also possess:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required
• 5+ years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience required
• Experience with polymers and plastics processing required
• Injection molding and/or compression molding experience required
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software required
• SolidWorks experience preferred
• Knowledge of engineering analysis and simulation tools such as SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, Creo Simulate, or similar preferred
• Experience with finite element analysis preferred
• Knowledge of mathematical computing and analysis tools such as MATLAB, Excel, LabVIEW, or similar preferred
• Experience with material selection and tolerance analysis preferred
• Strong understanding of product development, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing processes
• Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, CAD models, BOMs, specifications, and engineering documentation
• Strong creative, analytical, and problem-solving skills required
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to provide clear project updates and recommendations to upper management
• Strong Microsoft Office proficiency required
• Excellent documentation skills required
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills required
• Strong decision-making skills and results-driven approach required
• Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
• Ability to work independently and meet goals with minimal supervision
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or training colleagues preferred
• Ability to work onsite in Riverside, CA

 

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while creating CAD models, performing engineering analysis, reviewing documentation, and managing projects
• Ability to stand and walk throughout engineering, manufacturing, production, testing, and office areas as needed
• Ability to use hands and fingers for computer work, measurement, testing, prototyping, documentation, and standard engineering tasks
• Ability to review engineering drawings, CAD models, test results, specifications, BOMs, reports, and computer screens for extended periods
• Ability to occasionally bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and move throughout manufacturing or testing areas
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move prototypes, tools, materials, components, or engineering equipment as needed
• Ability to work around manufacturing equipment, molds, tools, test equipment, plastics-processing operations, and production activity
• Ability to wear required PPE and follow all applicable engineering, manufacturing, quality, and safety procedures
• Ability to maintain accuracy, sound judgment, and attention to detail while managing technical projects and engineering activities

 

Salary Range: $85,000 to $100,000/year
