Metabolic And Bariatric Program Coordinator Registered Nurse (RN)
The Metabolic and Bariatric Program Coordinator Registered Nurse (RN) serves as the operational coordinator and subject matter expert for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program across Health First. The Metabolic and Bariatric Program Coordinator RN provides program coordination, accreditation compliance, quality improvement, outcomes monitoring, patient experience, community outreach, physician collaboration, and strategic program development. The Metabolic and Bariatric Program Coordinator RN partners with physicians, leadership, clinical teams, and operational stakeholders to ensure effective program administration, regulatory compliance, continuous quality improvement, and achievement of program objectives while maintaining a safe, patient-centered care environment.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Coordinates and oversees bariatric program activities in partnership with operational and clinical leaders, supporting effective delivery of services throughout the pre-operative, peri-operative, and post-operative patient continuum; organizes patient education activities related to surgical preparation, nutrition, recovery expectations, care pathways, and long-term success strategies.
- Serves as a program resource and subject matter expert regarding bariatric standards, accreditation requirements, care pathways, equipment needs, documentation expectations, and program best practices.
- Facilitates support groups, seminars, and educational events for patients, families, providers, and community members to support patient outcomes and program awareness, as well as, multidisciplinary committees, program meetings, and governance activities to support operational alignment, accreditation readiness, quality outcomes, and strategic program priorities.
- Leads accreditation readiness and ongoing compliance efforts, including coordination of required documentation, performance monitoring, regulatory standards, and activities necessary to achieve and maintain applicable program certifications and accreditations as well as, quality improvement initiatives based on program outcomes, performance data, evidence-based practices, and identified opportunities to enhance patient care and program effectiveness.
- Partners with physicians, leadership, physician practices, and operational stakeholders to support program growth, referral development, community engagement, and increased awareness of metabolic and bariatric services.
- Collects, analyzes, trends, and reports clinical, operational, quality, and patient experience data to monitor program performance and identify opportunities for improvement and evaluates program performance metrics, resource utilization trends, and opportunities for operational and financial improvement; provides recommendations to leadership to support program effectiveness and sustainability.
- Serves as a liaison between physicians, leadership, clinical teams, ancillary departments, and interdisciplinary stakeholders to ensure communication, alignment, and coordination across the bariatric program.
- Collaborates across the integrated delivery network (IDN) to promote standardized practices, service line integration, consistent patient experience, and alignment with program goals.
- Coordinates initiatives to improve patient, physician, and team member experience by assessing feedback, identifying trends, and partnering with appropriate stakeholders to support service delivery improvements.
- Collaborates with Revenue Cycle, physician practices, and operational stakeholders to support financial clearance processes, documentation compliance, reimbursement-related workflows, and appropriate stewardship of program resources.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Associates degree in Nursing (ASN) or Nursing Diploma.
- Work Experience: Two (2) years related experience.
- Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Florida.
- Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintained.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Proficient in MS Office Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.
- Strong patient education, communication, and coordination skills.
- Ability to travel to various Health First facilities, and work in different environments across the IDN.
- Ability to interpret clinical information and support outcomes tracking and quality initiatives.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and followthrough.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Work Experience: Four (4) years experience in surgical, bariatric, or relevant specialty program coordination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
