About the Role

We are currently partnered with a leading Investment Bank looking to bring on an Investment Banking Managing Director to join their growing Technology coverage team in NYC. This senior leadership role is responsible for originating, structuring, and executing complex M&A and capital markets transactions for clients across the technology sector, while leading client relationships and mentoring junior bankers. The ideal candidate brings deep sector expertise, a strong network of senior executives and sponsors, and a proven track record of revenue generation and deal execution.

Key Responsibilities

Client Coverage & Origination

• Develop and maintain senior-level relationships with CEOs, CFOs, and Boards of leading technology companies
• Proactively originate M&A, equity, and debt advisory opportunities across subsectors (e.g., software, fintech, semiconductors, IT services, internet)
• Drive idea generation and strategic dialogue with clients, including growth strategy, capital structure optimization, and shareholder value initiatives
• Maintain strong relationships with private equity firms, venture capital investors, and corporate development teams

Deal Execution

• Lead end-to-end execution of transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, IPOs, follow-ons, and private placements
• Oversee valuation analysis, financial modeling, due diligence, and transaction structuring
• Negotiate transaction terms and manage internal and external stakeholders (legal, accounting, regulators)
• Ensure high-quality deliverables and execution excellence

Revenue Generation

• Consistently meet or exceed annual revenue targets
• Build and manage a robust pipeline of live deals and prospective opportunities
• Identify cross-selling opportunities across banking, capital markets, and other product areas
• Lead, mentor, and develop junior bankers (VPs, Associates, Analysts)
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment
• Provide strategic guidance on pitch materials, financial analysis, and deal strategy

Market & Industry Leadership

• Maintain deep expertise in technology sector trends, competitive dynamics, and valuation frameworks
• Represent the firm at industry conferences and client events
• Contribute to thought leadership and market insights

Qualifications

Required

• 12-15+ years of investment banking experience, with significant time at the Director/MD level
• Established track record of originating and executing M&A and capital markets transactions
• Deep expertise in one or more technology subsectors
• Strong existing relationships with corporate clients and financial sponsors
• Demonstrated ability to generate substantial revenue

Preferred

• MBA or advanced degree in Finance, Business, or related field
• Proven leadership and team-building capabilities
• Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
