The ASR II is responsible for providing assistance to patients in a friendly and courteous manner. They handle check‑in and check‑out functions, including registration and cashiering. The ASR II must maintain a neat and professional appearance and an organized work area. Primary Responsibilities Collaborate with patients to achieve excellent customer service and high levels of satisfaction. Endorse mutual respect among all members of the healthcare team and promote an efficient, effective team environment. Process check‑in and check‑out on the POS system and collect all applicable fees, co‑pays, deductibles, self‑pay, bad debt balances, surgical pre‑payments, and coinsurance amounts, as determined by Financial Review personnel to meet collection standards. Issue receipts for all monies taken and assist patients in setting up payment plans with the Central Business Office. Assist patients quickly and efficiently, ensuring accurate information is obtained and conveyed. Process registration for new patients, including name search and account set‑up with insurance and demographic information, update patient demographics in Epic, and relay wait‑time information. Answer questions and provide assistance directly or by referring them to the appropriate person or department. Verify insurance coverage, benefits and eligibility with third‑party carriers when indicated, document insurance information in Epic, and route accounts to patient account analysts. Review work queues daily and perform corrections as needed. Perform cash control procedures for daily accounting of opening cash and balancing of ending cash. Perform other duties as assigned by the site manager. Required Qualifications High School diploma or GED. 1+ years of direct face‑to‑face customer service experience. 1+ years of cash handling or collections experience. 6+ months experience in a customer‑facing role within a medical office or healthcare setting. Preferred Qualifications 2+ years working in a physician, hospital, or medical office environment (patient registration, appointment scheduling, or medical billing). 2+ years insurance and/or managed care experience, including insurance verification and ability to explain plan details to patients with HMO, PPO, EPO, Medicare, and other plans. Pay and Benefits Pay is based on local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. The hourly rate for this role ranges from $17.98 to $32.12 per hour for full‑time employment.
