Graduate Assistant, Sports Performance

Job Overview Graduate Assistant – Sports Performance Department: Athletics Responsibilities include supporting the Strength and Conditioning programs of NCAA Division I Athletic teams, ensuring compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University regulations, and contributing to the planning and execution of Sports Performance initiatives. Key Responsibilities Assist the Associate Director with developing and maintaining comprehensive training programs for 3–4 teams and facilitating the implementation of 1–2 additional teams. Support weekly practice and competition preparations while ensuring NCAA, Conference, and University rule compliance. Communicate proactively with Sports Medicine staff, supervise weight room operations, maintain facility and equipment, and order supplies for the Walsh Athletic Center weight room and fueling center. Maintain accurate athlete records and documentation as required. Assist with budget management for the department and receive annual written approval from the Director of Athletics and President for any external income or benefits. Participate in professional development activities, including conferences, seminars, and workshops related to NCAA and Conference developments. Promote safe and secure working conditions by ensuring proper use of equipment and notifying management of any unsafe conditions. Perform other duties as assigned or required by departmental needs. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field and acceptance into a Fairfield University graduate program. Certification: SCCC or CSCS. Certifications: First Aid/CPR/AED. Internship experience with a collegiate or professional sports program. Compensation and Benefits The Graduate Assistant position is a two‑year commitment beginning with the 2026‑27 academic year. It includes a tuition waiver of 9 graduate credit hours per term, up to 36 total credit hours, and a stipend of $12,000 per year.
