Clinic Athletic Trainer 3 - UHealth SoLé Mia

$5,000 Sign On Bonus This position is for a Clinic Athletic Trainer 3 at UHealth – Orthopedics, Sports Medicine at SoLé Mia, located in North Miami, Aventura, and surrounding communities. The role involves providing patient‑centered care under the supervision of an attending physician/surgeon. The athletic trainer evaluates, treats, educates, and coordinates care for patients with medical and musculoskeletal pathology.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Serve as a key liaison for the practice of an attending surgeon or a satellite location. May be assigned to various locations and providers within orthopaedics to assist patient care. Conduct comprehensive or episodic health histories and physical assessments of patients with acute, chronic, or potential injuries and illnesses. Take thorough histories, including chief complaint, vitals, pain score, mechanism of injury, past medical history, and review of systems. Perform appropriate physical examinations: range of motion testing, strength/manual muscle testing, neurovascular and sensation testing, palpation, special and ligamentous testing, and functional testing. Present cases to attending physicians, including any imaging results. Transcribe, enter, and execute standing orders within the limits of the practice agreement, including radiographs, MRIs, EMGs, CT scans, ultrasounds, PT, injections, braces, lab work, medication, and referrals. Provide patient education on rehabilitation exercises. Fit patients with splints, crutches, braces, wraps, and other orthopaedic appliances and educate on proper use; provide billing information to bracing company. Perform wound care, gait training, casting application and removal. Remove sutures and provide dressing changes to postoperative patients. Aid supervising physician in preparing and administering injections, including timeouts, informed‑consent signatures, and supplies. Complete procedure booking sheets and liaise between patient, attending, and procedure coordinator. Communicate and document patient care in electronic medical record. Assist attending physicians with paperwork for medical leave and workers’ compensation. Guide patient‑access representatives to schedule patients appropriately; filter clinic schedules based on criteria. Assist physicians and clinic staff with billing, insurance authorizations, pre-authorization, retro-authorization, and appeals. Schedule patient appointments, edit slots, and appointment notes. Assist with clinic closures and rescheduling appointments. Answer patient questions regarding surgery, postoperative recovery, and rehabilitation protocols. Facilitate referrals to and from assigned providers. Serve as liaison, preceptor, mentor, and/or supervisor for students observing clinical experience.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Certification in a relevant specialty or field. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
