Mainframe Architect

Leads architectural design and strategy for complex mainframe systems, including z/OS, Db2, CICS, storage, security, and MQ components.

Develops conceptual, logical, and physical architecture models aligned with business and technology strategies.

Monitors and analyzes system performance, identifying bottlenecks and performing tuning for optimal efficiency and capacity.

Ensures system scalability, high availability, security, and implementation of backup and recovery strategies.

Defines and executes modernization strategies, including integration with cloud platforms, microservices, and API-based architectures.

Supports migration of legacy applications and data to modern platforms.

Provides technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development and infrastructure teams.

Diagnoses and resolves complex technical issues and provides L3 support for system and middleware components.

Develops and maintains technical documentation, including architecture designs, processes, and system configurations.

Establishes and enforces architecture governance standards and best practices.

Collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

Strong knowledge of mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, CICS, Db2, VSAM, REXX, PL/I, and Assembler.

Experience working with z/OS operating systems and core mainframe components.

Proficiency with JCL utilities such as SORT and IEBGENER.

Experience with debugging and testing tools such as IBM Debug Tool and Xpeditor.

Familiarity with change management tools such as Endeavor and SCLM.

Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

Experience with DevOps tools such as Jenkins and GitHub.

Knowledge of Agile methodologies and modern development practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting complex systems.

Strategic thinking with the ability to develop long-term IT roadmaps and transformation strategies.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
