Company Description The Elizabethtown Area School District is an award-winning public school system located in picturesque Lancaster County, approximately 20 miles from Harrisburg and Lancaster and accessible by major roadways and rail. Role Description The Human Resources Director is a full-time, on-site role located in the Lancaster Metropolitan Area, serving the Elizabethtown Area School District. This position leads the HR function, including strategic planning, implementation, and oversight of HR programs, policies, and services for all District employees. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing recruitment and hiring processes, onboarding and retention initiatives, and employee relations matters. The Human Resources Director oversees performance management systems, compensation and benefits administration, and ensures compliance with labor and employment laws and school district regulations. The role also involves advising district leadership on HR best practices, supporting professional development initiatives, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in Human Resources (HR) management, including strategic HR planning and HR operations. Strong knowledge of HR Policies and procedures, with experience developing, implementing, and updating policy frameworks. Proficiency in Employee Relations, including conflict resolution, investigations, and building trust with staff at all levels. Experience with Performance Management processes such as evaluations, feedback systems, and performance improvement plans. Solid understanding of Labor and Employment Law, including compliance in a public sector or educational environment. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Education Administration, or related field; advanced degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred. Prior leadership experience in HR, ideally within a school district, public sector, or similarly complex organization. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, educators, and support staff. Proficiency with HR information systems and standard office software, and the ability to use data to guide HR decisions.
