Shipping Supervisor

Position Summary

The Shipping Supervisor leads day-to-day operations within the Shipping Department and ensures materials are picked, packed, checked, loaded, and shipped accurately and on time. This position supervises shipping personnel, delegates workloads, coordinates with Sales, Logistics, Receiving, and QC, and maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise daily shipping operations, including picking, packing, checking, loading, and outbound shipments.
• Manage and organize a team of approximately 7–10 employees .
• Delegate daily workloads to department leads and shipping personnel.
• Ensure forklifts, order pickers, cranes, hand tools, and other equipment are in safe working condition.
• Review daily operational reports and determine staffing and overtime needs.
• Coordinate with Sales regarding priority orders, hot shipments, cancellations, substitutions, project orders, and special requests.
• Coordinate outbound freight with Logistics, including flatbeds, motor freight, hot shots, and other carriers.
• Work with QC to resolve material discrepancies and non-conforming stock.
• Process and manage picking tickets and shipping documentation.
• Ensure bills of lading and product releases are matched to the correct shipments.
• Support will-call traffic and ensure customer vehicles are loaded correctly and efficiently.
• Manage shipping dock space and maintain organized shipment lanes.
• Verify small-parcel shipments are packaged, labeled, and shipped correctly.
• Perform daily checks for missed or delayed shipments.
• Train employees on department procedures, work instructions, quality requirements, and safety practices.
• Maintain employee training records and conduct competency reviews.
• Attend production meetings and communicate departmental issues to management.
• Identify process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and safety.
• Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce safe material-handling practices.
• Enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures as required.
• Communicate equipment breakdowns and safety hazards to management and HSE.

Quality Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of materials prior to shipment.
• Verify heat numbers and product markings.
• Ensure product releases are completed accurately.
• Confirm pallet identification and shipment documentation are correct.
• Verify material quantities and specifications prior to shipment.
• Maintain accurate shipping and BOL documentation.
• Ensure shipments are properly photographed and documented before leaving the facility.

Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish required
• 3+ years of PVF industry experience preferred/required
• Previous shipping, warehouse, or distribution supervisory experience
• Experience managing warehouse or shipping personnel
• Ability to read industry specifications, charts, tables, and shipping documentation
• High school diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Forklift/material-handling experience preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Receiving Supervisor

Position Summary

The Receiving Supervisor oversees day-to-day Receiving Department operations and ensures incoming materials are unloaded, inspected, verified, documented, and placed into inventory accurately and efficiently. This position supervises receiving personnel, coordinates with Purchasing, QC, Warehouse, Shipping, and management, and ensures materials are properly received and stored.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise daily receiving operations and receiving personnel.
• Manage unloading, inspection, verification, staging, and storage of incoming materials.
• Organize and delegate daily workloads to receiving employees.
• Ensure incoming materials are matched against purchase orders, packing lists, and receiving documentation.
• Verify quantities, part numbers, heat numbers, material markings, and product specifications.
• Coordinate with QC regarding damaged, incorrect, or non-conforming materials.
• Communicate receiving discrepancies to Purchasing, Warehouse, and management.
• Ensure materials are entered accurately into inventory systems.
• Monitor receiving dock space and maintain organized staging areas.
• Coordinate forklift, crane, and material-handling activity in receiving areas.
• Ensure incoming freight is unloaded safely and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate receiving logs and documentation.
• Monitor daily workload and determine staffing or overtime requirements.
• Train employees on receiving procedures, quality standards, safety requirements, and equipment operation.
• Maintain training records and identify employees requiring additional instruction.
• Conduct safety meetings and maintain clear aisles, racks, and receiving areas.
• Ensure equipment inspections and maintenance checklists are completed.
• Report equipment breakdowns, material damage, and safety hazards to management.
• Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy as needed.
• Work closely with Shipping and Warehouse teams to ensure proper material flow throughout the facility.

Quality Responsibilities
