Director Quality Improvement Behavioral Health

We are looking for a Quality Improvement Director for our Behavioral Health Service line. Position Summary This position leads the Quality Department and elevates high reliability in clinical performance through assessment of performance, prioritization of improvement activities, oversight of performance improvement projects, and ensuring successful clinical project implementation at operating entities. The role works closely with system and operating entities to improve quality and outcomes of clinical care, relying on strong communication, collaboration, teamwork and change‑management skills. Core Functions Quality Leadership and Integration – Lead integration of quality into the organization to achieve annual initiatives, CMS and Joint Commission standards, and support the development and implementation of annual quality plans in partnership with departmental and service line leadership. Performance and Process Improvement – Serve as subject‑matter expert in performance and process improvement, coach and oversee facilitation of improvement activities related to patient safety, harm reduction, clinical performance, peer review, and regulatory compliance. Population Health and Care Transitions – Direct evaluation and improvement of healthcare processes and care transitions, implement evidence‑based population health strategies, and monitor clinical practice performance. Health Data Analytics – Guide data‑driven decision making, oversee collection and analysis of performance data, and alert leadership to trends and opportunities for improvement. Patient Safety – Promote a safe culture, apply safety science principles, oversee safety risk analysis, and lead safety improvement activities. Regulatory and Accreditation – Direct compliance monitoring, prepare for regulatory agency visits, and oversee continuous survey readiness activities. Quality Review and Accountability – Manage compliance with voluntary, mandatory and contractual reporting requirements, oversee payment model alignment, and support peer‑review activities. Professional Engagement – Engage in the healthcare quality profession, pursue lifelong learning and certification, and contribute to the advancement of the field. Administrative Responsibilities – Oversee department budget and productivity, supervise quality improvement at single or multiple entities, and support system‑level quality initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree or current enrollment with anticipated graduation within one year of hire. Minimum five years acute‑care clinical experience and at least two years management or proven leadership of large‑scale projects. Ability to perform complex statistical analysis and problem‑solving. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS) within six months of hire (or within one year for hires before June 1, 2025). For Behavioral Health clinical settings serving children, an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and Arizona Criminal History Affidavit required upon hire. Preferred Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) license. Experience with process improvement, regulatory/accreditation programs, data management, analysis, graphic development and presentations.
