SMV Recruiting is actively looking for a Fleet Mechanic for a local fleet in the transportation department of a manufacturing company. The ideal candidate has general knowledge of diesel engine operating principles and is mechanically inclined enough to help diagnose and repair tractors, trailers, and dollies. Familiarity with 12V electrical systems, PM services, and basic welding is needed, along with your own tools. This is a 3rd shift role offering flexible hours and great benefits.
Responsibilities:
• Performs PM services and inspects equipment to identify and address pending failures
• Diagnoses and repairs components of tractors, trailers, and dollies, with support as needed
• Maintains and performs basic repairs to 12V electrical systems
• Performs basic welding repairs as needed
• Services and repairs diesel engines and associated components
• Documents PM and repair work using computer-based systems
• Supports A/C system repairs and NYS Inspections where certified
Requirements:
• General knowledge of diesel engine operating principles and components
• Mechanically inclined with the ability to diagnose and repair tractors, trailers, and dollies
• Proficient in PM services with the ability to spot pending failures
• Familiarity with 12V electrical systems
• Computer literate with basic welding knowledge and ability
• Must have own tools adequate for the role; A/C and NYS Inspection certifications a plus
Additional Information:
• 3rd shift role with flexible scheduling between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM
• Starting wage of $23–$31/hr depending on experience, plus shift differential
$30 - $35 per hour
