Job Description

The Maintenance Electrician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots industrial electrical systems and equipment in a fast-paced production environment. This role focuses on control and distribution apparatus, drive systems, and PLC-based controls, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain control and distribution apparatus, including switches, relays, circuit breakers, control panels, and related equipment.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot drive systems such as variable frequency drives (VFDs), eddy current drives, and DC drive systems.
• Work with programmable logic control (PLC) systems, including interpreting, troubleshooting, and modifying PLC control logic and ladder logic as necessary.
• Identify, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical problems and complications in installed systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot and maintain motor control centers, motor start circuits, and control loops to support reliable equipment operation.
• Maintain and troubleshoot generators, high voltage switchgear, protective relaying, and associated high-voltage electrical equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and complex diagrams to install, calibrate, and maintain electrical apparatus accurately.
• Install electrical conduit, perform conduit bending, pull and terminate wiring, and complete industrial electrical installations to code.
• Use electrical and electronic testing equipment such as multimeters, ammeters, megohm meters, high potential testers, oscilloscopes, and digital probes to diagnose and repair equipment.
• Assist in establishing, implementing, and maintaining scheduled preventive maintenance programs for plant equipment using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Essential Skills

• At least five (5) years of experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial electrical equipment with related training.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and regulations, including high-voltage switchgear, protective relaying, grounding procedures, and safety procedures.
• Demonstrated expertise in industrial electrical systems, including 480V power distribution and high voltage electrical equipment.
• Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, including interpreting and modifying ladder logic and control logic.
• Hands-on experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs), drive systems, and motor control centers.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills for industrial environments, including control circuits and power circuits.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and service manuals to install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
• Knowledge of electronics and instrumentation sufficient to diagnose and repair complex systems.
• Skillful use of electrical tools and test equipment such as multimeters, ammeters, megohm meters, high potential testers, oscilloscopes, and digital probes.
• Considerable knowledge of approved methods, practices, code requirements, and safety standards for the electrical trade, including tools, equipment, and materials.
• Basic personal computer skills, including experience with Maintenance CMMS systems and email applications such as Outlook.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working as a maintenance technician or maintenance electrician in an industrial setting.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems in a production environment.
• Background in industrial installation work, including conduit installation, conduit bending, and wiring for industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with control systems, industrial controls, and control loops in manufacturing or processing facilities.
• Comfort working with industrial electronics and instrumentation alongside electrical systems.
• Ability to perform arithmetical and algebraic calculations related to electrical and control systems.
• Strong attention to safety, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to electrical safety practices.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations and support 24-hour call-out requirements when needed.
• Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.
• Capacity to adapt to a variety of tasks and a changing workload each day.

Work Environment

The role is based in a duck farming and processing operation that manages the full cycle from hatch to slaughter. You will be exposed to all aspects of live processing and must be comfortable working in this type of agricultural and industrial production environment. The position operates on a first shift schedule with rotating Saturdays, and may require responding to 24-hour emergency call-outs to support critical plant operations. You will work around industrial electrical equipment, high-voltage systems, motor control centers, and mechanical systems such as hydraulics and pneumatics. The facility follows Good Manufacturing Practices and strict safety and regulatory standards, requiring consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to established procedures. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with a strong focus on reliability, safety, and teamwork.

This is a Permanent position based out of Hamburg, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
