Special Education Teacher

As a K-4 school-based Special Education Teacher in Winnetka, Illinois, your days will include:

• Provide individualized and small-group instruction in a K-4 resource classroom.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs.
• Adapt lessons, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to support student learning.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to support student success.
• Monitor student progress and use data to guide instruction and IEP goals.
• Support students' academic, social, and behavioral development.
• Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings.

Job Details

• Position: One on-site contract opening in an elementary school resource setting
• Hours: 35.75 paid hours per week, Monday-Friday; 30-minute unpaid lunch daily
• Caseload: Kindergarten-4th grade; 8-10 students
• Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 8:15 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; Tuesday and Friday: 8:15 a.m.-3:45 p.m.
• Assignment: ASAP through the end of the school year
• Interviews: Virtual, anticipated within 24-48 hours
• Work Setting: On-site; remote and hybrid assignments are unavailable

Successful Candidates Possess

• An Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) endorsement (required)
• Education and training in special education
• Experience in a pediatric or school setting (preferred)
• The ability to work in the U.S. without a sponsor
• Note: New graduates may be considered
