Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Scheduling Specialist

The Surgical Scheduling Specialist at Moffitt is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures for assigned physicians and clinical areas. This role ensures accuracy in surgical orders, facilitates pre-operative and ancillary service scheduling, and delivers timely communication and exceptional customer service to the surgical team, internal departments, patients, and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and review surgical orders submitted by surgeons to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Schedule surgical procedures, including all required pre-operative appointments and ancillary services
• Communicate promptly with the medical team regarding any issues that may impact scheduling
• Maintain timely and professional communication with patients and families
• Identify and secure available operating room time for additional procedures
• Collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative departments to ensure seamless coordination of care
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Credentials

• High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree or some college coursework preferred
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a hospital, outpatient facility, physician office, or equivalent healthcare setting
• Minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills
• Strong verbal communication and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
