Patient Transporter

Job Overview:
As an integral player on the multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing transportation for our patients, as well providing basic patient care or administrative support as needed, if within scope of practice.
What You’ll be Doing:
- Preparation and transportation of all ambulatory patients referred for treatment needing transportation services.
- Maintains an up-to-date vehicle transportation log and vehicle maintenance log.
- Maintains vehicle cleanliness and daily interior sanitizing at the end of daily patient transports.
- Recognizes change in the patient’s condition and intervenes appropriately as it relates to transportation.
- General support in clinic as required and within scope of practice.
- Adheres to all patient safety initiatives and infection control procedures as outlined in the hospital’s safety policies.
- Adheres to appropriate usage of clinic’s and the hospital’s resources, supplies and equipment.
- Assists in coordinating patient transport scheduling and moving of patients to and from treatment gurneys, along with clinic staff, if/when needed.
- Consistently adheres to company, hospital, and accrediting body clinical, safety, and compliance standards.
- Employees are expected to participate in cross-training initiatives to build versatile skills, provide backup support during absences, and ensure seamless clinic operations.
- Ensures compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) by safeguarding patient information and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements for This Role:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from approved agency.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record. A chauffeur’s endorsement may be required.
- Must possess the ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
- Schedule flexibility required to meet patient needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to treat others with compassion and patience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- All employees are required to comply with HIPAA policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications for this Role:
- All employees are required to comply with HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Prior experience with patient transportation preferred.
- Medical certification preferred (i.e. EMT, CNA, MA, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, particularly SharePoint preferred.
Travel:
This position requires frequent ground transportation.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by a Patient Transporter to successfully perform the essential competencies, duties, and requirements of this position. These include standing, walking, driving, lifting up to 50 pounds and sitting for extended periods of time and looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time. In addition, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting and shifting heavy objects, as well as air travel, may be required. Employees should ask for assistance if needed.
Vaccination Policy:
Employment with The Center for Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Medicine, LLC or NexGen Hyperbaric, LLC is contingent upon attesting to health clearance requirements, which include, but may not be limited to: evidence of vaccination for/immunity to Hepatitis B, Influenza (Flu), MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella) Varicella (Chickenpox), Tdap (Tetanus and Diphtheria), Tuberculosis (TB) testing. Additional vaccinations, proof of immunity, or documentation may be required.
