Wellness/PE Teacher

The Westborough Public Schools seek a dynamic Wellness/PE Teacher to join our caring staff at Mill Pond Intermediary School (Grades 4-6) beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

Job Title: Physical Education and Wellness Teacher

Reports to: Director of Wellness and Principal

Department: Wellness

School year: 184 days

FSLA Status: Exempt, Unit A

Salary Range: Unit A Salary Scale

Job Goal: The Wellness Teacher fosters a love of learning and movement that encourages student curiosity, engagement, and growth in a welcoming community of learners. The teacher provides learning experiences that engage students in all aspects of physical education and social-emotional learning guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, National P.E. Standards, district standards and requirements.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's and/or Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
• Professional Certification: MA DESE license in Physical education K-8
• Additional certification in Health, special education and/or ESL highly preferred
• Specialized Knowledge: child development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-bias instruction, social-emotional learning
• CORI, SORI and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI, SORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience teaching English Language Learners in a diverse setting.
• Experience teaching students with special needs, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
• Highly desirable to have experience with:
• Health Education
• Adapted Physical Education
• Co-Teaching
• Inquiry-based instruction & Project Based learning
• Second Step
• Responsive Classroom

• Participate in all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Health, PE and Wellness Teacher does not have supervisory responsibilities for other staff, except to direct any paraeducators who may be assigned to his/her/their classroom.

Salary and Benefits: Salary, benefits, and responsibilities per contract between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Education Association.
