Responsibilities and Duties

As a Food Inventory & Receiving Specialist , you will play an important role in ensuring our food production operation has the products and supplies needed to support daily airline catering operations. This position combines food receiving, inventory management, stocking, warehouse operations, and food safety responsibilities.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Receiving and inspecting incoming food products and supplies

• Unloading trailers and safely moving products into designated storage areas

• Scanning and accurately recording incoming inventory

• Maintaining accurate inventory records and completing routine inventory counts

• Monitoring inventory levels and communicating potential shortages

• Stocking and organizing products in freezers, coolers, and dry storage areas

• Working in refrigerated and frozen environments for extended periods

• Rotating inventory according to FIFO (First In, First Out) practices

• Unboxing, handling, and storing food products according to food safety requirements

• Washing and handling produce according to established food safety procedures

• Maintaining proper product temperatures and following temperature control requirements

• Identifying damaged, expired, or improperly stored products and taking appropriate action

• Loading and unloading trucks while protecting product quality and safety

• Operating pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely

• Maintaining clean, organized, and food safe storage areas

• Following all food safety, sanitation, quality, and workplace safety procedures

• Supporting inventory accuracy and operational efficiency within the storeroom

• Working closely with Production, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, and other departments to ensure product availability

• Performing other related duties as assigned

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess the following qualifications:

• Minimum one year of food industry or food safety experience required

• Previous experience in food manufacturing, food distribution, grocery, restaurant, airline catering, or a similar food environment preferred

• Knowledge of basic food safety and proper food handling practices

• Ability to understand and follow food safety procedures, including temperature control and FIFO requirements

• Ability to work in freezers, coolers, and other temperature controlled environments for extended periods

• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move products weighing up to 75 pounds

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, and move throughout the shift

• Ability to safely operate a pallet jack

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling inventory

• Ability to work independently while also supporting a team environment

• Reliable attendance and ability to work in a fast paced production environment

• Ability to follow safety, food safety, and sanitation procedures consistently

• Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory systems

• Ability to obtain and retain a SIDA airport badge, subject to applicable TSA requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with inventory management or receiving

• Experience working in a food production or manufacturing environment

• Previous pallet jack or warehouse equipment experience

• Experience working with inventory systems, scanners, or computerized tracking systems

• Experience working in refrigerated or frozen food environments

• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, or other food safety standards

• Previous experience working in airline catering, commercial food production, grocery distribution, or food service

Schedule/Shift Availability

• Open availability required based on operational needs

• Full time

• 8 or 10 hour shifts

• Weekends required as scheduled

• Holidays required as scheduled

• Schedule subject to change based on operational needs and the seniority based shift bid process
