Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $10,000. About the Unit and Patient Population Big Rapids Campus houses a 22‑bed medical‑surgical unit and a 4‑bed critical‑care unit. The patient population is diverse and primarily consists of hospitalist‑medicine patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. Acute‑care opportunities include IV placement, chest tubes, NG placement/management, and the management of high‑acuity patients with sepsis, hyperglycemia, and respiratory failure. Critical‑care work involves medication drips (insulin, vasopressors, etc.) and the use of ventilators and BIPAPs. The unit is supported by an interdisciplinary team of hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse technicians, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Scope of Work Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably in accordance with the American Nurses Association (ANA) and state regulations. Applies the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to determine and track patient needs. Upholds professional standards, including ethical practice, culturally congruent care, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice, quality improvement, and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal patient outcomes through evidence‑based interventions and continuous evaluation of care plans. Shift and Scheduling Night shift (7:00p.m. to 7:30a.m.) on a six‑week rotating core schedule. Weekly scheduled hours: 36. Weekend frequency: every other weekend. Qualifications Associate’s in Nursing, Bachelor’s in Nursing, or equivalent within 5 years of graduation. Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
