They are not permitted to counsel patients. Duties Receive and review prescriptions or refill requests. Select appropriate medication (right drug, strength, formulation). Identify discrepancies and communicate with a pharmacist to clarify. Accurately perform pharmaceutical and chemical calculations to prepare medications. Utilize pharmacy equipment to accurately weigh, measure, and pack medications. Fill and deliver controlled substances according to department policies and procedures. Prepare, package, and label pharmaceuticals according to regulations and pharmacy policies/procedures. Compound medications and sterile or nonsterile pharmaceuticals in accordance with policies and procedures. Determine refill amount, pull, and stocks automated dispensing machines (ADC's). Identify and pull expired medications per pharmacy policy. Perform inventory of pharmacy medications and supplies to maintain adequate stock to dispense medications needed by patients. Complete documentation required by regulations and pharmacy policies and procedures. Maintain medication security at all times. Perform medroom inspections.Respond to routine inquiries from physicians, nurses and other staff within scope of practice. Identify, report, and help resolve system issues and/or other items in need of repair such as submitting a ticket or calling a vendor. Participate in departmental orientation, training and quality assurance programs. Participate in department and hospital educational programs to maintain skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor. Perform pharmacy clerk and technician I functions as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications At least 18 years of age High School Diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma Current and active, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician License in Arizona Current and active Pharmacy technician certification (PTCB or EXCPT) One year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferred BLS certification within 90 days of hire Work Type Permanent, Full #J-18808-Ljbffr
