Job Summary Baylor, Scott & White, The Heart Hospital, Denton, TX. Full‑Time Nights, 3 twelve hour shifts per week, rotating weekends. Specialty/Unit: Rehab. Position: Patient Care Technician – Health Unit Coordinator handles clerical and patient care tasks under a licensed nurse’s supervision. Key Responsibilities Collect and record patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, nutritional intake, and output. Perform blood glucose monitoring using finger‑stick samples, test strips, and portable meters. Provide routine urinary catheter care and collect/transmit specimens such as urine, stool, and sputum. Assist patients with daily activities (hygiene, dressing, eating, moving) and change linen as needed. Respond to patient call lights and requests quickly; may serve as a sitter for patients requiring constant observation. Complete and maintain unit and patient records, including admissions, surgeries, transfers, discharges, medical records, and physician call lists. Maintain a clean, organized work area for records and reference documents; update facility boards and telemetry box reconciliation. Prepare reports, purchase orders, projects, memos, and letters using computer programs. Greet visitors, answer telephones, and coordinate with the nursing team and medical staff via pagers, beepers, and cell phones. Perform work area assistance as directed by the nurse or physician, run errands, pick up supplies, and transport patients. Maintain inventory, requisitions, and stock supplies and equipment in the work area. Assist with non‑medical patient care duties such as making coffee, transporting patients, and distributing ice, water, and blankets. Clean patient bedside units and nursing areas not covered by general housekeeping; clean equipment appropriately. Attend in‑services, unit meetings, and conferences. Relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and employees at all levels. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Less than 1 year of experience. Certification / License Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
