Hospital Unit Secretary
Hospital Unit Secretary facilitates department/patient flow and patient care by serving as a frontline ambassador in customer service, performing clerical duties and data entry functions.
Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining medical records, assisting with unit operations, and ensuring accurate documentation and communication. The role requires effective communication skills, the ability to handle stressful situations with composure, and proficiency in technology and software applications.
The position generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience and a high school diploma. Additional certifications may be required depending on the unit, with BLS certification being common.
Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods, occasional standing or walking, and the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. The job function is sedentary but may involve exposure to a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
