Student Nurse Tech - Acute Care Medicine (PRN)

Additional Information About the Role SNT Position Requirements: Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program Completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health) PRN Requirements To maintain PRN employment status requires working 24 hours every six weeks Overview Acute Care Medicine manages patients with a full range of clinical issues - from significant blood dyscrasias, advanced endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, GI conditions, infectious diseases, asthma, and a multitude of other conditions and diseases. Because of our patient acuity, we provide advanced training to bring new nurses to the highest level of functioning. Each unit is led by a clinical manager and lead charge nurse. The unit is supported by an advanced practice nurse. Additionally, each unit is assigned a case manager, social worker, physical therapist, dietitian, and pharmacist. This multidisciplinary team works in conjunction with the physicians, nurses and patient care technicians to provide quality patient care. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose: Provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health). Responsibilities Assists nurse with patient and family education, documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology, acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures Minimum Requirements Education Enrolled accredited RN program Experience No Experience Supervisor Experience No Experience Preferred Requirements Education Enrolled accredited BSN program Benefits and Legal Statement At BJC we’re committed to providing you and your family with benefits and resources to help you manage your physical, emotional, social and financial well-being.
