Job Title: RN Surgery Profession: RN Specialty: RN Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 AM - 03:30 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Ability to scrub using Davinci XI. - Ability to circulate and scrub for posterior eye and eye trauma. Description: We have two operating departments. One is a main operating room with 26 rooms and level one trauma. The other consists of a 7-room inpatient outpatient mix. The primary base will be the 7-room unit, but floating will be required when necessary based on staffing needs. The typical case load in the 7-room unit includes: - General: mostly hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, PEG placements, and GI work. - Colorectal: open and laparoscopic bowel resections, some robotic procedures. - Gynecology: oncological and benign procedures, open, laparoscopic, robotic, D&C, hysteroscopy, LEEP, and tubal ligations. - Urology: cystoscopy, stent placements, TURB, TURP, percutaneous procedures, holmium laser enucleation, open, laparoscopic, and robotic nephrectomies and cystectomies. - Breast: biopsies, mastectomies with and without reconstruction. - Eye: procedures performed three times a month including plastics, cataracts, and vitrectomies. - Brachytherapy: assistance with device insertion, primarily performed by the radiation oncology team. - Plastics: usually in conjunction with breast or other affirmation procedures. - Uro-Gyn: procedures such as slings and anterior/posterior repairs. - Robotics: primarily Urology and Gynecology with some bariatric procedures. The unit operates Monday through Friday and often finishes by 7-8 PM. Obligations include two weekend call shifts and the equivalent of one 11:00 AM - 7:45 PM shift per week.
