Job Description

This role focuses on the assembly, testing, and rework of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and related mechanical assemblies within an electronics manufacturing environment. You will handle PCB burn-in, manual soldering and solder rework to IPC or military standards, and follow detailed assembly drawings and manufacturing procedures. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, solid understanding of electronic assembly practices, and the ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Perform PCB test and assembly tasks, ensuring all work meets established quality standards.

• Carry out routine preparation activities for assembly, including PCB burn-in tests, subassembly work, mechanical assembly, and assembly test activities.

• Perform manual soldering and solder rework on printed circuit boards in accordance with IPC or military standard specifications.

• Maintain both quality and quantity standards while accurately recording assembly activities in traveler tracking logs.

• Collaborate closely with the engineering team to perform prototype builds and provide clear feedback on any deviations or issues identified during evaluation.

• Work with engineering personnel as needed to clarify design documentation, parts lists, and drawings to ensure completeness and accuracy.

• Follow assembly drawings and manufacturing procedures consistently and accurately within the electronics manufacturing environment.

• Adhere to all safety, quality, and process guidelines while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the printed circuit board industry.

• Proficiency in manual soldering and solder rework for PCBs to IPC or military standard specifications.

• Previous knowledge of mechanical assembly, thru-hole and surface mount technology, and electronic component identification.

• Demonstrated experience performing rework on printed circuit boards.

• Ability to read and interpret quality control specifications, IPC standards, blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications.

• Hands-on skills in soldering, mechanical assembly, electronic assembly, and electrical wiring.

• Ability to use basic measurement and inspection tools such as micrometers.

• Comfort working with ERP/MRP system reports and work orders, with a willingness to learn new systems as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent, with the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.

• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to contribute effectively within a team.

• Ability to work at a fast pace while performing a variety of functions with consistently high-quality results.

• Dependable attendance and reliability.

• Ability to lift 10–20 lbs occasionally with reasonable accommodation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with standard electronic assembly concepts and practices in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience following detailed assembly drawings and manufacturing procedures.

• Comfort interpreting and working from blueprints, schematics, and engineering documentation.

• Experience collaborating with engineering teams on prototype builds and design clarifications.

• IPC certification or the ability to work to IPC standards.

• Positive attitude, strong teamwork, and cooperation with leadership.

• Flexibility to periodically adjust scheduled start times and support occasional Saturday work.

Work Environment

This position is based in an electronics manufacturing environment focused on printed circuit board assembly, testing, and rework. You will work primarily on-site between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday work and periodic adjustments to the start time as needed. The role involves hands-on tasks such as PCB burn-in, mechanical assembly, manual soldering, and testing using tools like micrometers and standard electronic assembly equipment. You will work with ERP/MRP systems, follow detailed work orders and traveler tracking logs, and operate within established quality and process controls. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to documented procedures, and the work may occasionally require lifting 10–20 lbs with reasonable accommodation. Dress expectations align with a typical electronics manufacturing setting, prioritizing safety and practicality.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valencia, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
