Material Handler I

The Material Handler I plays a key role in warehouse operations by accurately assembling customer orders, staging and loading outbound shipments, and moving finished goods into storage. This full-time, non-exempt position works hands-on with forklifts, handheld scanners, and warehouse systems to ensure products are picked, inspected, packed, and shipped safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized facility.

Responsibilities

• Assemble customer orders according to pick paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Use PBIX order processing and MDI PBIX flow to prioritize and manage pick orders.
• Maximize pallet cube by carefully and efficiently assembling products on pallets.
• Utilize handheld scanners, the scale system, and the MRP system to record and track inventory and orders.
• Follow all special instructions noted on pick paperwork and adhere to established pick and inspection workflows.
• Physically stage assembled orders for trailer loading in designated areas.
• Photograph staged orders to document accuracy and condition prior to loading.
• Perform secondary checks on staged orders to verify counts, labels, and overall correctness.
• Load LTL and TL trailers safely and securely according to company and customer specifications.
• Use load bars, straps, and other bracing mechanisms to secure shipments and prevent damage in transit.
• Photograph loaded shipments to document trailer configuration and load security.
• Use handheld scanners and the MRP system to complete all shipping processes and record outbound movements.
• Weigh and record dimensions for into-stock pallets received from production.
• Accurately record pallet quantities and assign pallet identifiers for inventory tracking.
• Move finished pallets into warehouse racks using appropriate material handling equipment.
• Prepare for and perform scheduled cycle counts to support accurate inventory control.
• Keep warehouses clean, organized, and well-maintained to promote safety and efficiency.
• Follow all safety guidelines while working around manufacturing equipment and material handling machinery.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in operating 3-stage and quad mast 3-wheel forklifts.
• Skilled use of handheld scanners for picking, packing, and inventory transactions.
• Ability to operate and read the scale system for weight and dimension recording.
• Experience using PBIX order processing to prioritize and manage pick workflows.
• Ability to use cameras to photograph staged and loaded orders for documentation.
• Hands-on experience with inspection, picking, packing, and RF scanner operations.
• Ability to move with ease around manufacturing and warehouse equipment.
• Capability to stack finished goods by hand and move them using a pallet jack.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
• OSHA forklift certification.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, non-exempt position in a warehouse and manufacturing setting. You will work around material handling and manufacturing equipment, including 3-stage and quad mast 3-wheel forklifts, pallet jacks, handheld RF scanners, scale systems, cameras, and PBIX/MRP systems. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, stacking finished goods by hand, and moving pallets within warehouse racks. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and well-maintained work areas, and you will follow established safety procedures while working on the floor.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Shelton, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
